Concerns with Coronavirus

Why hello there 2020! In these challenging and uncertain times, this year feels like the year of perspective. We left the only brokerage we ever knew after a combined 35 years and that seemed like a massive and monumental change for the two of us. Little did we know that it would pale in comparison to what would soon become the current COVID-19 crisis.

I have been asked by several people over the past few days what COVID-19 will mean for the real estate market. The truth is, none of us know. Our first priority should be to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and everyone in our communities safe. If you feel even remotely unwell, stay home. If you do not NEED to leave your home, stay home. Regardless of where you are, wash your hands regularly! We should know all of this already though.

It is also worth remembering that throughout history, there has not been a more stable investment than real estate. Not only is your money safer in a home than a stock, but it sure is nice to quarantine somewhere that you enjoy living. There is still a shortage of homes for sale in our great city, and I have had conversations with several buyers over the past few days that are still eager to buy. I'm sure they are not alone.   

To our valued clients, we are here for you! For as long as our health and government allows, we will continue doing business. We have implemented new health and safety practices to ensure everyone's safety. Safe social distancing, sanitizing all frequently touched surfaces, and working online when possible are a few examples. 

There is no time where I have ever been more appreciative of technology. It allows us to stick together without physically being together, something we may all need to do soon. Tech also allows us to purchase and sell homes without physically being in them. This is a practice we have used a number of times sporadically throughout the years, and may soon become more prevalent. We already can sign all listing and offer documents remotely. I have a virtual appointment booked later today with a seller wanting to sell their home that will walk me through the home with a video rather than having me physically present.
