This is the portion of Hamilton between downtown and Cootes Paradise. The Hamilton West area encompasses the neighbourhoods of Durand, Kirkendall, Strathcona east of the 403 and Ainslie Wood West of the 403 around the McMaster University campus and Westdale.
Westdale Village is a vibrant, historic neighbourhood and shopping district in Hamilton with an original 1940s movie theatre, shops, cafés and restaurants. The Village spans King Street West from Cline Street North to Sterling Street, and extends to parts of Newton and Paisley Avenues. Established in the 1920s, the area is a highly walkable community, bordering the nature trails of Cootes Paradise.
There are also several Synagogues in the area and the Jewish Community Centre is located nearby in Ancaster at 1030 Lower Lions Club Road.
